KLINGER Maxiflex Spiral Wound Gaskets

KLINGER Maxiflex spiral wound gaskets pair a specially profiled, spring-like metallic winding strip with a softer filler — graphite, PTFE or mica — wound in alternating plies. Under compression the filler densifies and flows into flange imperfections while the V-profile metal strip acts as a spring, so the gasket recovers under fluctuating loads from pressure and temperature cycling, flange rotation, bolt relaxation and creep.

Manufactured to ASME B16.20 on computer-controlled winding machines, Maxiflex gaskets deliver a very tight, reliable seal at high pressures and temperatures, suit standard and custom flange designs, and remain easy to handle and install. Common configurations include Type CR (outer ring), Type RIR (inner ring), Type CRIR (inner and outer rings), Type R, Type R Graflex faced and Type HTX for heat exchangers.

Filler choice sets the service envelope: graphite for steam, oils and hydrocarbons to 500°C; PTFE where chemical resistance is paramount (to 260°C); and mica for extreme temperatures up to 1000°C. A wide range of winding and ring materials — from stainless grades through Monel, Inconel and Hastelloy to titanium — covers virtually any duty.
